Project: Elucidating the neural basis of foreign language learning through modulation of neural oscillations
PI: Shinri OHTA
Research Overview: This study aims to examine whether foreign language learning can be enhanced by using non-invasive brain stimulation—an approach that can safely alter brain activity—to modify neural oscillations, which are rhythmic patterns of brain activity. Specifically, the study will investigate: (1) whether neural oscillations reflect sentence structure, and (2) whether foreign language learning is facilitated by using non-invasive brain stimulation to bring learners’ neural oscillations closer to those of native speakers.
