The Ohta Lab, Faculty of Humanities, Kyushu University, attempts to elucidate the neural mechanisms underlying language by demonstrating linguistic hypotheses with neuroscience experiments.
We have various experimental devices such as electroencephalography (EEG), transcranial electrical stimulators (tES), and an eye tracker. In addition, magnetoencephalography and MRI are also available at external institutions, where we are conducting joint research.
Advantages of the Ohta Laboratory
Students can study both linguistics and neuroscience, as well as various related fields such as statistics and psychology. Students can also freely use lab equipment such as EEG and tES.
Lab Meetings
We have a progress report meeting and journal club every two weeks. In addition, we support students by providing weekly individual meetings to determine research themes and practice sessions for conference presentations.
We often invite researchers from outside the university to learn up-to-date research in linguistics and neuroscience.
